Drop up to 30 images, drag them into order on today’s 3:4 tiles, and the feed planner numbers them in the order to post. For anyone planning a profile, from a small brand to an AI persona page. ## How to use the Instagram Feed Planner 1. Drop the images you plan to post. They line up three to a row, newest at top left. 2. Drag tiles into the order you like, or select one and move it with the buttons or arrow keys. Remove what doesn’t fit. 3. Post in number order, starting with tile 1 at the bottom right. Download the plan as a PNG, or the images renamed in posting order. ## Why the last tile goes up first Each new post lands top left and pushes the rest along, so a planned grid goes up backwards. The [Instagram grid maker](https://phersa.com/tools/instagram-grid-maker) uses the same order for one image split across the grid. - Tile 1 is the one to post first. The top-left tile has the highest number. - The striped tiles stand for the posts already on your profile. A plan of 3, 6 or 9 posts keeps their rows as they are. Any other number shifts them sideways by one or two places. - Pinned posts sit at the start of your grid, before everything else. Unpin them, or leave room for them in the plan. ## What the profile grid shows | Post shape | On the profile grid | | --- | --- | | 3:4, 1080 × 1440 px | Shown in full | | 4:5, 1080 × 1350 px | A thin strip off each side | | Square, 1080 × 1080 px | Cropped to 3:4, cutting the sides | | Reel, 9:16 | The middle of the cover, cropped to 3:4 | Instagram moved the grid from squares to 3:4 tiles in January 2025, so the planner crops to 3:4 by default. The Square option shows the old grid. ## Plan the grid around what you post - **Alternate formats.** Mix Reels, photos and carousels so no row is three of the same thing. - **Spread out the faces.** The same close-up three times in a row looks like a repeat, on an AI persona page too. Put a wide shot or a text post between them. - **Keep one look.** Similar light and color across a row ties the grid together, even when the subjects change. - **Check Reel covers on the grid.** A cover with its title near the top or bottom loses it in the 3:4 crop. Drop your next images here and the planner shows them as your profile will: 3:4 tiles, three to a row, newest top left. Drag them until the grid looks right, then post in number order, tile 1 first. ### Why does my grid look cropped? Because the profile grid shows 3:4 tiles. Square posts lose their sides and 4:5 posts lose a thin strip. A 3:4 post at 1080 × 1440 shows in full. The planner crops the same way. ### How do pinned posts affect my plan? Pinned posts sit at the start of your grid, before everything else. Unpin them before you post the plan, or leave their places free at the top of it. ### How do I see a Reel cover on the grid? Drop the cover image in like any other post. The grid crops it to the middle 3:4, as Instagram does. To place the title where the crop keeps it, use the Reel cover maker. To keep the plan, download it as a PNG, or the images renamed in posting order. ### Can I move tiles on a phone? Yes. Press and hold a tile, then drag it. Or tap a tile and use the Earlier and Later buttons. ## More free tools - [Instagram Grid Maker — Split one image into 3 to 12 tiles that line up on today’s 3:4 Instagram profile grid.](https://phersa.com/tools/instagram-grid-maker) - [Instagram Reel Cover Maker — Pick a frame from your video, add a title, and check it on the 3:4 profile grid before you download.](https://phersa.com/tools/instagram-reel-cover-maker) - [Instagram Content Ideas Generator — Ten post ideas for your niche, each with a hook, a comment keyword and what the DM sends.](https://phersa.com/tools/instagram-content-ideas-generator) [See all free tools for AI persona creators →](https://phersa.com/tools) Source: https://phersa.com/tools/instagram-feed-planner
