# Instagram Image Resizer

Resize an image to the exact size Instagram or Facebook wants: feed posts in 4:5, 3:4, 1:1 or 1.91:1, Stories, Reel covers, profile photos and a Facebook Page cover. Use it when Instagram cuts off part of your photo or makes it look soft.

## How to use the Instagram Image Resizer

## Instagram image sizes

Instagram shows photos at up to 1080 pixels wide. It keeps a photo’s resolution when the photo is 320 to 1080 pixels wide and its shape is between 1.91:1 and 3:4. A wider photo is sized down to 1080 pixels wide. One under 320 pixels wide is enlarged to 320. A shape outside that range is cropped.

3:4 is the tallest feed post, so it fills the most of the screen. Use 4:5 when the same image also goes to Facebook.

Meta recommends 4:5 for single images in the Facebook Feed. A Page profile picture shows at 176 × 176 on computers and 196 × 196 on phones. On phones it covers about 40 pixels of the cover photo, so keep the bottom left of the cover clear. A cover photo loads fastest as an sRGB JPG under 100 KB.

## Crop or fit?

**Crop to fill** fills the whole frame and cuts the edges that don’t fit. Use it for photos of people, and drag so the face sits in the upper middle. **Fit inside** keeps the whole image and fills the empty space with a blurred copy of it or a color. Use it for screenshots, graphics and anything with text near the edges.

Start from an image at least as wide as the size you pick. An image enlarged past its own size looks soft on a phone.
