Post tile 1 first and the highest number last. The newest post sits top left, so the grid fills from the bottom right. Click a tile to download just that one.

How to use the Instagram Grid Maker

  1. Upload an image and pick 1 to 4 rows, three tiles each.

  2. Keep the 3:4 shape for today’s grid, then move the crop until the picture sits right.

  3. Download the zip or single tiles. Post them in number order, tile 1 first.

Instagram grid sizes today

WhatSize
Profile grid tile3:4, since January 2025 (it used to be square)
3:4 photo post1080 × 1440 px. Shows in full in the feed and on the grid
4:5 photo post1080 × 1350 px. The grid crops a thin strip off each side
Square post1080 × 1080 px. The grid crops it to 3:4, cutting the sides

So the tool cuts 3:4 tiles at 1080 × 1440. What you post is what the grid shows, and the picture lines up from tile to tile. Instagram has taken 3:4 photos since May 2025.

Why you post the last tile first

The newest post sits top left on your profile, and each new post pushes the others one place along. So a split image goes up backwards: the bottom-right tile first, the top-left tile last. The tool numbers the tiles in that order, and names the files grid-post-01.jpg, grid-post-02.jpg and so on.

  • Post all the tiles in one go, so nothing else lands in between.
  • Any post you make later moves the whole picture one place. Post in threes to keep the rows together.
  • Pinned posts sit at the start of the grid, before your other posts. Unpin them while you check the layout.
  • The grid shows thin lines between tiles, so keep faces and text away from the cuts.

Instagram Grid Maker questions

How do I make a puzzle feed on Instagram?

Split one image into rows of three tiles here, and keep the 3:4 shape so the edges meet on today’s grid. Post tile 1 first: the bottom-right piece. After that, post in whole rows of three, or every row shifts by one.

What size are the tiles?

1080 × 1440 px with the 3:4 shape, the same as the tiles on today’s profile grid. The square shape makes 1080 × 1080 px tiles.

Why doesn’t my old square grid line up anymore?

Because Instagram changed the profile grid from squares to 3:4 tiles in January 2025. Square posts now show with their sides cropped, so the edges between square tiles no longer meet.

In what order do I post the tiles?

Tile 1 first, then 2, 3 and so on. Tile 1 is the bottom-right piece, because the newest post shows top left.

Can I split the image into a carousel instead?

Yes, but a carousel shows only its first slide on the profile grid. For one wide picture that people swipe through in a single post, use the carousel splitter.
