Comment & DM Automation

Comment & DM Automation answers the comments on your Instagram and Facebook posts: everyone who comments your keyword gets your DM and, if you want, a public reply, and comments with words you choose are hidden. Connect an account in Settings, then set it up in Monetize.

What it does

  • Comment-to-DM: a video asks viewers to comment a word, like "LINK". Everyone who does gets a DM from your account, in Instagram DMs or, for a Facebook Page, in Messenger, with what you promised: a link, a code or a guide.
  • Auto-reply: a public reply under their comment, in your words, so they know to check their DMs. It is posted right after the DM, and skipped if the DM can't be sent.
  • Hide comments: comments with words you choose, like "fake" or "scam", are hidden. On Instagram only the person who wrote one and you still see it; on Facebook their friends see it too. Hidden comments never get the DM.

It works with Instagram professional accounts (Business or Creator) and Facebook Pages. Personal Instagram accounts and personal Facebook profiles can't be connected. For an overview, the differences between Instagram and Facebook, and pricing, see Comment-to-DM.

Connect an account

  1. Go to Settings → 03 — Socials and choose Connect on the Instagram or Facebook Page card.

  2. Sign in on Instagram's or Facebook's own screen and approve the connection. Leave every permission on, above all access to messages: without it no DM can be sent.

  3. For Facebook, choose the Page to connect. Each connected Page counts as one account, and so does each Instagram account.

Set up an automation

  1. Pick the post

Open Monetize, click the account and choose New automation. A new automation starts on All posts: it runs on every post that has no automation of its own. Choose Choose a post to pick one of your newest posts instead; a post's own automation, while it's on, replaces All posts on that post. Each post can have one automation. The post must already be published.

  2. When someone comments

Add your Keywords and choose how they match:

    • Whole word: the keyword as a separate word. Keywords of 4 or more letters also match small typos.
    • Anywhere: the keyword anywhere, even inside another word (APP matches "happy").
    • Exact: the whole comment must be the keyword and nothing else.

Skip comments that have keeps a comment with any of those words from getting the DM, even if it has your keyword. Hide comments that have hides comments with any of those words. Keywords, skip words and hide words ignore capitals: LINK = link = Link.

Turn on Also answer people who DM the keyword and someone who messages you the keyword gets the same DM. Pick a keyword people wouldn't use in a normal chat.

  3. They get a DM

Write the message. Add up to 6 versions of it; each person gets one of them at random.

On Instagram the DM is text only: write your link in the message and it's tappable. Instagram doesn't deliver buttons to people who don't follow you. On Facebook you can add up to 3 link buttons, shown together under the DM.

Under Send it, choose Right away or a delay of 1, 5 or 15 minutes, or 1 hour.

  4. They get a reply

Optionally write a Public reply, with up to 6 versions like the DM. It is posted under their comment right after the DM.

  5. Save it

Give it a name if you like, then choose Create automation. Switch an automation off and on from its row in the list.

Who gets the DM

  • Only people who comment your keyword, or DM it when you turned that on. Your own comments are never hidden.
  • Each person gets an automation's DM once (with DMs answered too, once from a comment and once from a DM). A Choose a post automation covers that one post, so a second keyword comment there doesn't send it again. An All posts automation covers every post without its own automation, so someone who already got its DM doesn't get it again on another post.
  • Instagram and Facebook allow one DM per comment, sent within 7 days of the comment, and more only after the person replies.
  • To someone who has never messaged you, the DM arrives as a message request. Instagram won't deliver another automated DM to them until they accept or answer the first.

See what happened

Monetize lists your connected accounts with their followers, automations, comments, DMs sent and failed DMs. Click an account to see its automations, and click an automation to see its activity: each person, their comment, whether the DM was sent, the reply, and when. Hover a failed or skipped DM to see why, for example "Already sent DM to this commenter".

With your AI agent

Your AI agent can set these up, change them and read their activity for you over MCP. Connecting or removing accounts and buying more DMs stay in Settings.

DMs and accounts

  • Your plan includes 2 connected accounts and 25,000 DMs per billing period. DMs reset when your plan renews; unused ones don't carry over.
  • Public replies and hidden comments don't count as DMs.
  • When your DMs run out, the DMs and replies pause until they reset or you add more; hiding comments keeps working.
  • Need more? In Settings → 05 — Subscription, add an account for $8 a month, or buy 50,000 DMs for $10 once. Bought DMs are used after your plan's and carry over until you use them.
  • Up to 500 automations per account.

Why it matters

Many proven Instagram and Facebook videos ask viewers to comment a word. Creators build their videos around comment-to-DM, and the videos you remake from Discover often carry that call to action already. Answering every keyword comment by hand stops working once a video takes off.
